A little over 11 months and i`m finally legal in Japan. I have a much sought after Gaijin Card and lucky for me I`ve been granted a 3 yr Engineers visa whereas it`s usually a 1 yr working visa straight off the bat. The last thing i had to do last week was get my re-entry permit sorted, this is my ticket to come and go from Japan as i please, I`m going to need this late October when i go to Taipei or a few days R&R ….. more on that later.

Now all the official stuff is done there`s a few other things i need to tick off, first and foremost is getting my Hanko sorted.

Hanko – A Chinese seal is a seal or stamp containing Chinese characters used in East Asia to prove identity on documents, contracts, art, or similar items where authorship is considered important.

East Asia currently uses a mixture of seals and hand signatures, and increasingly, electronic signatures. [1] But notably in China, Japan, and Korea, seals remain commonly used instead of a signatures when doing business or other procedures, and in certain cases, only seals are acceptable.

As a man in Japan It`s important to get a Hanko with a powerful meaning and one that will impress the chicks so i`ve turned to a buddy fom work for his input and he`s come up with the following;

新偉流武人

This meaning is New Great Stream (flow) Samurai.

新 -> New (Ne)

偉 -> Great (i)

流 -> Stream or Flow (l)

武人 -> Samurai; (Duckett)

Please combine the alphabets in the parenthesis.

It will be Neil Duckett. I like these Kanji’s meanings.

So there you have it, some time in the near future i`ll slip into the Hanko shop and get this sorted. Hopefully by then i`ll have adding images ot these posts sorted so i can put up a picture or two.
