Foods In Japan

Contrary to popular opinion, It’s not all rice and sushi in Japan and it’s not always super expensive either, some of the foods in Japan are pretty similar to what i would eat back home.

Take this place for example, レソトラン ソルタナ (Restaurant Sultana?) i walk past it every day on my way home from the station, i’m in and out in less than 15 minutes and i even get to use a knife and fork to eat with.

It’s a good thing i like potato salad i suppose, but what i like even better is that i can feed myself for the week for less than $30 if i need to.

For some more traditional foods in Japan you can check some of these out Okonomiyaki Ramen Flying Noodles or Yamachan Chicken

I’m a fan of potato salad myself. Are those dishes usually able to fill you up?

yeh, they pretty much do me, although i snack later at night and a few beers always fills me up too. :) … I must admit there’s been a few times in the last few weeks where i’ve had 2 dinners in the one night, this place for a quick and cheap feed then straight to sushi for the taste. Sushi doesn’t fill me up and rather than drop 50 there i go there with some food in my belly first.

I have to admit, my favorite restaurant in Japan is a little Japanese-style diner in Yokohama called “Tora Hige” that caters mostly to college students and blue-collar types. The portions are satisfying and the food tastes awesome.
