If you’re going to eat Cup Noodles for dinner then you might as well do it in style with the aid of this Cup Noodle Vending machine.
Not sure on the exact details of the campaign (i’ve never suggested i’m a credible source for info) but it looks to me like they’re giving away 3000 machines from today the 16th of January until the 31st of March, or until “sold” out i guess.
Maybe JT might be able to run the glasses over the site and fill me in on more specifics and while he does, YOU should do yourself a favour and read this article of his, Idiots In The Workplace.

This is the link to the Entry Card you need to fill out for the one of these bad boys.

Thanks to Michael Glazer for the heads up from Twitter on this.
For the official site and entry form on getting one of these machines you can go here not sure you can get one from outside of Japan though.
Fridays J-Babe went live in the early hours of this morning so be sure to check out Ayumi Kinoshita.

That’s pretty much the gist of it man.
Apparently you put five stickers from Cup Noodle lids on the postcard to fill up a row, then write out your name, address, etc. and send it off. You can enter as many times as you like; the postcard has two rows on it, filling out both of which would count as two entries. I imagine the people who really want one of these vending machines will be buying a lot of noodles…
The website has a pretty lulzly (if you’re easily amused, which I am) video showing how to use your personal Cup Noodle vending machine. Who the hell re-seals their instant ramen lid with *tape* once they’ve added the hot water?
Here’s teh link – http://www.cupnoodle.jp/mvm/index.html
And thanks for the shoutout!
Thanks for the clarification JT ….. and yeh, I was well happy with the video mate!
If i may put on my pedantry hat here, it’s not a vending machine per se, but a “hot water provision apparatus in the form of a vending machine”.
They will however send someone round once a week to collect the coins you insert.
That’s a bit of a let down then isn’t it!! Nice of them to take the coins ….
this would be huge on a u.s. college campus!
i would invest in one, seriously.
In all seriousness Chuck, the vending machine business has massive merit to it.
>the vending machine business has massive merit to it.
Hell, anything instant and self-contained. Saw the guy who invented the canned oden on TV one time and the guy was giggling to himself about how much money he’d made off it.
Vending machines in Japan, although they are everywhere, would be a goldmine, theft and property destruction is as low as it could possibly be anywhere. Only problem with vending machines in other parts is loss of earnings due to times it’s inoperable and loss of product. Overcome that in the west and sit back and count the cashola coming in.
Just gave myself a good chuckle remembering some of the vending machines back in the States — the things would be surrounded in separate metal “cages” and padlocked to prevent theft/vandalism. Animals!
Animals indeed.
wow…cup o noodles frenzy
