It’s no wonder Google receives thousands of thousands of job applications each day, in the IT sector they’d be a great company to work for. There’s a lot to be said for a good working environment and Google has this side of things sorted big time.
Here’s a sneak peek into the Google Offices in Zurich thanks to Le Temps
Moving Around: A slide allows quick access from different floors … there’s also poles available, fire department style.

Food: Employees can eat all they want from a vast selection of food and drink.

Workstations: Each employee has 2 large screens and there’s on 4-6 employees per office.

Innovation: There are white boards all over the place because ideas don’t always come to mind while you’re sitting at your desk.

Leisure: Pool tables and video games are in an abundance.

Communication: On each floor there are cubicles where you can take care of your personal affairs when required.

Technical Support: Problems with your computer? Bring it in to the support area and grab a drink while you wait.

Health: Professional masseurs available.

Rest: Massage chairs in relaxing surrounds

Ambiance: A library to catch up on some reading.

Our office isn’t bad when it comes to desk space and hardware but it falls seriously short compared to Googles’ facilities, as most other companies would I’m sure.

That would be awesome… probably stay a lot longer and work a lot harder, and of course the job would still get done but with a smile instead of a snarl for most…
My word, the food and drink would certainly be handy for those late night meetings.
does work get done with all the indulgence? ^^
If it doesn’t then the people doing the excessive indulging aren’t the right people for the job.
I’m torn between wanting to think it can’t be real and passionately looking for google jobs. When I think of how my coworkers and I are crammed into a non-lounge where we are constantly tripping over each other and each other’s bags … sigh.
I’ve seen these pictures before and it’s just amazing! When you’re doing some creative working, changing the environment every now and then is really important. I bet this helps the workers a lot, when they’re actually on a break they have something to do instead of just going out for a bit, while still having work on their mind. I’m really familiar with this problem myself, I can sit a whole day at the computer trying to design something, but if I’m stuck, I’m stuck for the rest of the day unless I have something else to do when I’m taking a break (which is one of the reasons why I bought an XBOX 360 a while ago!).
Google employees spend lots and lots and lots of time at the office doing techie stuff. Google execs figure if they can make the work place fun the workers will stay and be more productive…and they are. People like being in the office and happy employees are productive employees.
