One of the more interesting sites in Japan on a Sunday is Harajuku and the surrounding areas, from Meiji Jingu Shrine to of course the bridge leading over to it, where most Sundays there’ll be a gathering of Japanese youth dressed in their cosplay of choice.
New camera in hand i took a walk around Harajuku last weekend.

The Shrine was quite busy on what was a pretty cold winters day.

Traditional Japanese Wedding ceremony.

Looks pretty comfy to me.

Takeshita Dori was bustling with shoppers.

The bridge was a hive of activity.

From the cute maid look.

To something a little less lady like.

The bridge was a sea of colour.

And also a mass amount of variety.

I’ve started uploading the full size images plus a few more taken on the day on Flickr so check it out if you’re interested.

Great shots, Neil! Beautiful quality. That camera definitely suits you, my friend, and knowing that you’re going to spend the initial in-love-with-my-new-camera phase out and about snapping great pics, I’m anxiously awaiting every new blog post.
Learning curve is steep Billy and not one to spend hours reading the manual i’m getting lots of great tips from youtube, flickr and other forums and the like.
I miss the sights of Harajuku!
Keep the pics coming, I know you and that camera are gonna be spending lots of quality time together.

You need to take a real good pic to put in your header!!
Nice shots Neil! Looks like you’re having fun with your new toy. I’m envious!
Just a point, I think the colour is off in a few of your photos – ‘comfy’ and ‘takeshita dori’. They look a little blue. I’m no expert mind ^^;
Hey Mike, i’ve just been watching a few clips on the mode selection and learnt a heap … at times on the weekend i changed the mode with total disregard as to what it was doing. Looking forward to taking a few more now i know those settings a bit better.
I’m getting my Barney the Dinosaur costume ready. Think I’ll fit in?
There were a few people in ridiculous get up …. you’d fit right in.

Hi Nihar, i’ll be sure to check it out.
nice shots!!
i would have given ANYTHING to have a stroller with those little ingenious clips to hold the blanket up! when my kids were tiny, we tried every trick in the book short of strangling them to keep a blanket in the stroller, picked a few out of the stroller wheels over the years…
Interesting things some people notice Sarah … i actually had NO idea at all that those things were even functional!
