I dont have a car in Manhattan so it makes it a little hard to go snowboarding. There's no trains going directly to the mountains. The place that does have a bus isnt that good and isnt worth going. I've been boarding for about 7 yrs now and am pretty handy ..... i guess Iwappara is a lazy mans choice which is why we went there. Hoping to get a bit further afield this season. Iwappara is great for starting out, once you get the hang of it, Kagura probably has the best terrain Yuzawa has to offer. Though it is a short bus ride from the station. Also, not sure if he is still there or not. I haven't heard from him in a long while and can't find his website. Not a good sign. But there is (maybe) a New Zealander named Paul who runs a bar/restaurant/hotel call Backcountry Oasis on route 17. Ah, now that brings back a lot of memories.
