Karaoke happens in 2 main types of places in Japan, the Karaoke Box and the Snack Bar …. i prefer the Snack myself, they’re always full of great characters and never a dull moment.
So when i saw this diagram via Tokyo Mango on the weekend i did have to laugh at the accuracy of it all.
Japans’ and indeed my own love of Alcohol often results in Karaoke.
However, for the most part i’m never so drunk that i fall off my bar stool
At least he saw the funny site of it too.

There’s nothing like set theory to prove a point
I don’t think I would ever drink enough to fall off a stool. The idea of paralysis through irresponsible drinking doesn’t sit well with me

Japan + alcohol = karaoke is also equals to : let’s get ready to rumble!
I will never forget sitting at a bar in Tokyo, and I guy walks in pretty drunk. he sits down and orders everyone drinks. Everyone in the bar is happy and starts ordering. Sometime later the guy just falls off his bar stool. No-one really cares. He’s drunk after all. After a while someone realizes the guy is not getting up.
Nothing would get him up, so an ambulance was called and they took him away. The mama-san just wanted to know how he was going to pay his tab.
Hahaha, mama-sans are the same all over Japan!
I have gotten pretty drunk in my day but I have never fallen off a bar stool before; although I have fallen down a few stair cases before.
Yeh, the last time i fell down some stairs was about 6 years back ….. remember it well and it`s never happened again …. either i can hold my drink better these days or i don`t drink in upstairs venues.
I haven’t fallen off something I have been sitting in, but I have fallen to my knees in an uncontrollable fit of laughter, and then onto my back laughing some more unable to get up until the laughter subsided,
I also think the image is wrong. THere are FAR TOO MANY karaoke bars in Japan for the overlap to be that small.

You’re wrong. Japan+Alcohol doesn’t =Karaoke. Japan+Alcohol=The tolerance to listen to people sing karaoke who really can’t sing

Ha the same hold true here in HK.
At least in Japan you’ll never get Japan+Alcohol = Driving Car as I have truly made that mistake in the past…

Japan + Alcohol = Finding myself paying far too much money to practice Japanese with women in prom dresses pouring me whiskey and waters while lighting my cigarettes….followed by Karaoke!
Overlap needs to be much, much, much larger.
