I was in Okinawa a couple of years ago staying at a very nice hotel. Well I have 3 tattoos and was banned from walking around without my shirt. So I wore a white t-shirt into the pool....

You would think that they wouldn’t care since I was obviously a foreigner. I have been to many hot springs in Japan and not once did they say something to me. they did stare a lot though.

Kanji Tattoos are cool to some although in My opinion they are quite un-cool.. it depends who you hang around, where you live and what you do..

I think Kanji Tattoos are only really for people that have little knowledge of Japan and no Japanese friends.. Getting a Kanji tattoo is just like us getting a tattoo in english thats easy to read 'eg. Arial font' tattood on our arm saying streingth.

Japanese people don't really think Kanji tattoos are cool nor do they respect them barely at all. If you look at true Japanese style skin work like the full back yakuza tattoos you will rarely see kanji involved, if at all.

So be carefull before you choose Kanji for a tattoo! Especialy when you dont speek or read Japanese its sometimes dangerious to get something wiritin that you don't know every meaning etc. about it.

Anyway just my 2 cents..
my source.
(I have a fair few tattoos inc. Japanese half armsleave not finnished.. Japanese wife and many Japanese mates.)

What do you mean? As text that you can copy? You'll need to have Chinese / Japanese Kanji language pack installed if you want them as text.

interesting, caligraphy is considered an art form. the caligrapher is just as important as the characters.
