My friend from Spain told me they also sold beer in Mcds in Spain. I'm guessing it's not an option for the kid's meal.

At Hakuba, if you take the intermediate level gondola to the top there's a McD's that sells beer and fries. I think it's set #8. The best! McBeer and Fries!

I did a bit of sniffing about and it seems like the 40 > 60 mins bus ride at the other end is unavoidable if i want to check out those areas .... which is fine, will just need to factor than in for start and finish times. Appreciate the tips on places Chris.

I hear you on the beer issue...
There's also Myoko and Togakushi, similar distances from Nagano as Hakuba and Shiga. Myoko's seems pretty busy, whereas Togakushi is a bit quieter - I haven't skied either, but both are well-known..

Thanks for the heads up Chris. I totally expect there to be a bus at the other end .... not sure 45 mins works for me but if that's what it needs to be then so be it. Car is out of the question, only going to be 2 of us and we both like a beer around 2pm.
