McDonalds Menu

September 24, 2008 · 47 comments

The McDonalds menu in Japan has recently been blessed with a new addition, the McDonalds Juicy Chicken burger and it’s good, damn good.

A few years back after watching McLibel i gave up my love of McDonalds and all other fast food giants. Since moving in Japan i’ve renewed my aquantaince with a few of them, namely KFC and Maccas … KFC has let me down but McDonalds haven’t.

The Mega-Mac was here about a year ago but it was too hard to eat, the Mega-Tamago (Egg) was here not long after and i didn’t get to sample, hopefully it will return sometime soon.

A few weeks ago the Juicy Chicken Burger appeared on the menu and i have to say, McDonalds are on to a winner here, it’s no Sasebo Burger but it beats KFC in Japan hands down for a spicy chicken burger.

Juicy Chicken

Like any Maccas purchase, the packaging and promo shots look better than the end result, yeh it’s not made with all that much love but it does fill a whole and fill it quickly … what i’d give for a Quarter Pounder though, unfortunately not sold here.

Juicy Chicken

The McDonalds menu differs the world over but i’m not sure whether the Juicy Chicken burger is sold in Japan only, what say you?

Do you have the McDonalds Juicy Chicken Burger in your country?

Hi its me again,

I would just like to quote a famouse sony by John Lennon “Imagine”. This song is a message of peace and try’s to promote a peacful way of life, Without argument, without dispute and most importantly not people like You and Me and Wayne and Page and Bob. It’s People like us that make this world bad as it is, and on behalf of the people of the world, The united nations and the People past present and futer, We are sorry. Our behavour towards each other is auful and we should just forget about and leave each other alone. Once again, Sorry.

I’m crazy for the Juicy Chicken burger, too, Neil! It’s super tasty. I might even like it better than the Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich. We have a Wendy’s here in town so I’ve been going there for my spicy chicken fix but the McD’s Juicy Chicken is just … juicier. Might have to pick one up today for a little snack.

I don’t think it’s available here in Sweden, but I don’t eat at McDonald’s so I’m not sure. That doesn’t look to yummy though =/

It’s as good as it gets at Maccas, but like I said it’s no Sasebo Burger.

Had McDonalds here in Hong Kong last night but didn’t notice the Juicy Chicken Burger. The quality in Japan is far better than HK.

Reason #292 to visit Japan! That looks way better than anything offered here in the U.S from the same chain.

it looks like a Mc Spicy in Singapore. Maybe it is, just different name.
I like the Mc Ebi Fry cause they don’t have that here. Wasted I didn’t get to try the Mc Pork over there.

Hey Neil, want to break your maccas habbit gain? Just try reading Fast Food Nation by eric Schlosser.
Couldn’t help lookin at those fries. Just remember that there is more beef fat per gram than a Maccas burger. this is how they get that great taste just right…
According to Wikipedia:
* During the 1980s, the sale of fast food in Japan more than doubled, and the rate of obesity amongst children also doubled.

Today, about 1/3 of all Japanese men in their 30s – members of the nation’s first generation raised on Happy Meals and “Bi-gu Ma-kus” – are overweight, increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer and breast cancer (the principal ‘diseases of affluence’).

Keep your eye out for that disease of affluence next time you have you annual 人間ドック!

Not to bring Plugger down but it’s not exactly new news that McDonalds and obesity go hand and hand. Besides, I read Fast Food Nation and I still like the McDonald’s Juicy Chicken Sandwich, damnit. I even like that ridiculously salacious ad they have for it on the JR line, although I think McDonalds and sexual innuendo are two things that shouldn’t really be combined… but whatevs. It’s just so freaking good.

“Whatevs” …. did you watch Rockstar Supernova a few years back TCG ?! I have just watched the complete series again this weekend and the Australian rocker Toby Rand bought that to the fore as an Australian expression …. after Dave Navarro asked what the “Evs” meant on his chest … but anyway … Evs.

Goddamn! It’s like I know that I should take advantage of living in a country with such great food and just stick the good stuff I can only get here. So, why the hell do I keep ending up at MickeyD’s once every week or two? I never went back home…

You’re right about this sandwich, Neil. It’s pretty decent.

Sometimes you need to get something quick and easy to fill the hole Billy, it can’t ALWAYS be a Japanese experience …. leave that to the people on their 7 day visit here. I don’t make a big habit of it but there’s enough McDonalds here and if it’s good enough for the locals it’s good enough for me.

That’s fast food for ya. Juicy CHicken is awesome! And yeah, they don’t get much love in the making but if I get some fries and shake with that, then it’s Ok!

This is a bit desperate, don’t you think !? C’mon Neal, you’re posting about McD’s, and then used the word “blessed,” ? Did you raise your hands to heaven and thank the lord for this meal ?

32 Neil Duckett September 26, 2008 at 5:59 pm

I’m certainly not using the word blessed in a religious form Tony, just a figure of speach!
