A week today and the 10 finalists in this years Miss Universe Japan contest will take the stage hoping to represent Japan later in the year and Miss Universe 2008.
Since attending Miss Nippon 2008 i had kept a close eye on the calendar in the lead up to next weeks event. Not close enough by the looks of it and it seems ticket sales closed yesterday. I have someone on the job as i write this and i’m still a hopeful starter at next Thursdays event, fingers crossed.
Since its founding in 1998, the Miss Universe Japan pageant, run by acclaimed French national director, Ines Ligron. It has achieved the impressive result of having three top 5 finalists and one winner at the Miss Universe pageant within a short span of 9 years.

And the eventual winner of Miss Universe Japan 2008, Hiroko Mima.
Ines Ligron was catapulted to the international spotlight when Riyo Mori won Japan’s second Miss Universe crown in Mexico in 2007.
The remaining 10 girls hoping to following in the footsteps of Chibana Kurara, Miss Universe Japan 2006 and are as follows;

Wow, too many gorgeous Japanese girls too choose from! I guess I am going to have to go with Kana Anan.

While they are all beautiful, they dont strike me as looking 100% Japanese. Im sure the (japanese) media is going to have a field night about it.

The winners of these things seem to be picked randomly, so I’m going to randomly pick Yukari Honna for the win!
I never get it either Nick, i think i need to be re-callibrated as i’m sure i look for different traits than the judges in these contests.

OH, MY, GOD!!!… MR.Nakajima, THE DIRECTOR FOR THE TV MISS UNIVERSE SPECIAL SAID – MISS JAPAN (Hiroko Mima) HAS A BEAUTY MYSTERIES – YEAH..AHA…HER BEAUTY IS SO MYSTERY THAT WE NEED A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR TO FIND IT…HELLOOOO!! THE ONLY MYSTERY WAS THE TRIUMPH OF HIROKO IN THIS CONTEST. HOW SHE COULD WON??? THAT’S A REAL MYSTERY. IF SHE IS ONE OF THE FAVORITES IS ONLY BECAUSE THE COMPETITION IS IN JAPAN THIS YEAR, AND PROBABLE SHE CAN CONTINUE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE ONLY FOR THE TV RATINGS…BUT DO NOT DREAM, SHE CAN’T WIN THIS CONTEST.
