Motorbike Parking

I noticed a new motorbike parking area while wandering up to Shinjuku on the weekend.

In an area previously unused behind the Century Southern Tower a clearing has been made where bikes can be tethered for a fee.

Decent diameter blue cables are attached to the structure and act as the trigger to begin charging.

I’m guessing an unsecured bike would incure a parking fine from the get go.

Instructions are plentiful although probably a little word heavy.

And in true Japanese fashion they state the obvious.

There wasn’t a lot of uptake when i walked past on Sunday, with only 5 of the 28 spots being used.

It would seem that the early adopters haven’t got the hang of the process as the envelopes presumably containing fines would suggest.

No idea, i wouldn’t think it’s expensive though … things like that aren’t a rip off here as SOO many people want to get it. You can ride a moped if you have a car license just like in most countries.

i was thinking of buying a motorcycle instead of a car since it would be easier to get around. I had a moped when i was a teenager and couldn’t stand how slow it went.. plus i’m 230 pounds so i wonder if a moped could even support me…

They need something like that where you can tether up your kid while you pop into the local pachinko palace.
