Mount Fuji On A Clear Day

January 25, 2008 · 9 comments

Coming to work this morning it was a very clear day, much clearer than the last few, which also meant much colder. The temperature when we came through the station this morning was 1′C and i felt it.

Still, when got to work i was able to take a few photos of Mount Fuji, unfortunately the photos i took were through the glass so they lose some quality, you still get the idea though.

Mount Fuji

Mount Fuji (富士山 Fuji-san?), is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776 m (12,388 ft). A dormant volcano that last erupted in 1707-08, it straddles the boundary of Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures just west of Tokyo, from which it can be seen on a clear day. It is located near the Pacific coast of central Honshū. Three small cities surround it: Gotemba (east), Fujiyoshida (north) and Fujinomiya (southwest).

Mount Fuji’s exceptionally symmetrical cone is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers.

a year ago I was in Hakone and went up to that place where they cook the egs in the boiling sulfur smelling water. first day all I could see were the fumes coming out of ground. went back the day after and all of a sudden somewhere in the distance Fujiyama appeared – awesome sight … similar to what is on your picture but from different angle, no town, just the nature (and few golf courses :-) )

You know what I was lucky enough to get a seat on the train this morning myself, actually the front seat of the first car – It was a very clear morning down here in Kyushu too…I should have popped out my camera and got a little footage however I was a bit lazy this morning –
Never been to Mt. Fuji – however it is on my to do list before I move elsewhere…

When my family and I visited Japan, we weren’t able to take this kind of weather. IT’S FREEZING!
