Only In Japan - was the subject of the email i was forwarded this week. I guess that’s the preception of Japan from elsewhere in the world that anything wonderful and weird in Asia has come from Japan.
Sadly in this instance i think the subject of the email is misleading and these pictures were actually taken from China, i’m happy to be proven wrong and would love to know more about these vehicles.
Japan are known for leading technology and concepts when it comes to vehicles and the Tokyo Motor Show is testament to that.
These bikes that transform into car trailers are as strange a 2 wheel transport as i’ve seen an example of far more impressive technology than i witnessed in Transport for Two In Taiwan late last year.

So if you know more about these or can read Chinese proficiently enough to track these pics down from the sites on the images i’d be happy to hear from you.
I’m off to Nagoya this weekend so my journey to Harajuku to cover the 29 stops on the JR Yamanote Line will have to wait another week.
“Harajuku (原宿 “meadow lodging”) is the common name for the area around Harajuku Station on the Yamanote Line in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Japan. The area is known internationally for its youth style and fashion.”
Here’s a little taste of what you can expect though when i do finally get out to Harajuku. It will definitly be one of the more colourful stops i assure you.

This is cool. and yes it is from China.
Before reading the post, I was quickly saying to myself – Doh! Gotta be somewhere in China…
Yeah, look at the grubby air… has to be China or India..although India is immediately excluded because the roads aren’t made of dirt… but given the transformer nature of the trailer you could be fooled into a Japanese origin.. but Japanese police are too kind to tow your car on the spot… couple of low bows and you would be free to go!
Yep, China.
Even more precisely, Shanghai (easily identified by the car license plate on the last photo).
Though I must say that over the past 3 years spent there, I’ve never seen any.
Yeah it definitely looks like China!
looking forward to those Harajuku pictures!
The original tow-goldwing was actually developed and put into practice by a finnish guy for use on the narrow and junky east-bloc roads up that way. Glad to see the idea is finally spreading to the rest of the world because it’s really clever!
Can you get some pics of the Harajuku girls, Duck? Gwen Stefani keeps singin’ about ‘em and I wanna see what they look like
@ motts
check out her videos you will see them…and I think she walks around with them from time to time at award ceremonies and other places
Harajuku is a little bit too hyped up though. I was kind of disappointed when I visited there because it isn’t really all that crazy. There is way more action in Shibuya and Roppongi.
Agree, not bad for a wander around but not really what most people make it out to be, it’s a lot younger than Shibuya and the pong too.
If you like shopping for super expensive items then Harajuku is the place to be.
