Plenty Happening and the Moment
Oct 12th, 2007 by Neil
What a week it’s been. Lots going on at work and busily planning my trip back home for Xmas. Probably could have looked into flights a little earlier than yesterday but haven’t had too much spare time of late so a few things slipped. Anyway, return flight to Japan is sorted and only a few small details to iron out re accomodation to go.
Other things coming up in the next few weeks
Next week will see the end of my first year in Japan. What a ride it’s been so far, the first 9 months in the Century Hyatt followed by mountains of paperwork and a short trip to Korea to get my 3yr Working Visa. 12 months have gone very quick and i’ve loved every minute of it. All the ffort to get here, the 6 months prior to leaving Australia and the culture shock of living in Tokyo has all been worth it. I’m settled in my apartment and now i’m here for at least the next 3 years, so it should be happy days from here on out. The road ahead consists of many a party like the one i had a my buddy Ron’s place a few months back.

I have a trip to Taipei planned for 2 weeks time today. Off over there to celebrate a buddies 50th birthday, it’s actually a mate of mine Grimmos’ old boy, but i know him well enough to class him as a buddy of mine. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of people i’ve met over the years who are fyling in from all over the place and looking forward to finally running the glasses over the famous “Green Bar” in Taiwan. It’s a short trip, out Thursday night and back Monday night. With it only being a 3hr flight it’s a pretty painless experience travelling in and around Asia.
One things for sure there’ll be no end of laughs when i catch up with these lads, one in particular. I asked Grimmo the other day how and where he’d been lately … keeping a low profile was the reponse to which i added, no Grimmo .. where have you wheelie been? … long story and i’m looking forward to hearing many more stories of shennanigans since i left Melbourne.
If the next 3 yrs + are half as good as the last 12 months then bring it on. Glad i made the move and to once again quote the words of a great mate of mine;
Dare mighty things, even though chequered with failure, rather than to rank with those grey soles that know neither victory or defeat.

What is up with Japanese girls and the peace sign anyways?
Not sure Leo, often wondered that myself but seriously it`s so over done it`s not funny. I wouldn`t have too many pics without at least 1 girl doing it if not more. It`s becoming a cultural thing too, i see kids as young as 4 or 5 doing it just to mimic.
I think it’s part of the Asian culture and being cute. I don’t get the peace signs or the Hello Kitties or these things either (=^^=) or however they do it.
Must be due to the manga and Anime.
