Random Pictures #1

February 10, 2009 · 17 comments

I was out and about Sunday afternoon and took a few photos on the walk home from Shinjuku. I thought i’d have a go at some black and white pics and i’m pretty happy with the way they turned out.

There’s some focus issues on a few of them that become a lot less noticeable when they’re reduced to fit the site.

Having a decent camera makes me a bit less uncomfortable about taking photos of people.

I’ve been taking the camera with me most places on the weekend, and will continue to do so moving in the future, so you can expect a lot more photos than usual.

Love the photos Neil. Especially the 6th one of the band. You also got a peace sign from one of the lads. It’s great when a random stranger does that :)

Hi Jerome, I was hoping to get there too but I had a mate in town from the UK for 1 show only so I caught up with him instead, next time for sure though.

I don’t really have a “decent” camera, just a 300D (the very first Digital Rebel that came out years ago), but I’ve often wondered if I went out with it and a nice big lens, if I would feel better than I currently do shooting with a 20,000-yen point-and-shoot camera. IE, if I would feel less shy about taking pictures of people…

It’s certainly made me feel a bit better, although I’m told a few beers does the same too. :)

You’re making good use of your new camera. As you said still some focus issues but you’re on your way. I can’t wait to see more improvement so keep us updated!

I agree with you, beers definitely help as much as an expensive camera does :D

Cheers~

Nice black and white photos there. I always find natural shots when people are not expecting it to be the best :-)
