I got the kit for my upcoming health check in the post last Friday, i knew what to expect so there were no real surprises. The survey on my health history came in English too which helped a great deal.
Upon opening this ’sample’ collection part of the kit i did have to laugh. I was pretty much OK with what had to be done, i mean there’s only so much room for error, it came with a few pics should i have any doubt.

I had to take a closer look at the pics showing me how to use the toilet, i wish i’d seen the Japanese instruction 2 yrs ago … the Western one was what made me laugh.
I wonder if this is the norm and following suit with using a Japanese style toilet they face the wrong way?? … or whether they’re actually suggesting the “Reverse Kanga” is the best method for grabbing the sample??

If you’re still unsure of what the “Reverse Kanga” is you might want to consult the Urban Dictionary.

You wait till they break out the barium sulphate drink for the X-ray imaging…
I can hardly wait …. it’s a full day affair Chris, starting at 8.30 and finishing at 5 ish …. not my ideal way to spend a day … but for a good cause i guess.
Do they require that when you get a visa? Could you post more info on it? i am moving to japan in six months and no one told me about this.
You’ll need to have a medical as part of getting your job …. and a job is what you need to get a visa so i guess in an around about way yes. The medical test can be done in several levels and it also depends on age. I went the full check because really, what’s the point going half asses when it comes to your health?? Here’s the place i’m going and it has links to the different levels of check you can have …. Japanese only though. http://www.its-kenpo.or.jp/kenshin/okubo.html
Thanks my wife can read it. I am moving my office to our Tokyo location so from what you say i will need to get it and i agree with getting a full check. Thanks for the info.
