On yesterdays trip to Gala Yuzawa i saw what would have to be best described as a pretty keen snowboarding family.
The youngest at the front, probably a out 5 or 6 yrs old with the wife and father close behind.
Dude-san also had his youngest strapped to his front, fast asleep mind you.
Off went the family of four, the young fella on the board getting constant instruction from his old man every step of the way.
Gala Yuzawa is about 90 minutes from Tokyo on the Shinkansen and it`s as easy as it gets … the station is attached to the ski resort …… well worth a visit if you`re keen for an easy and cheap travel option.

Nice to see that dad is concerned about the snowboarding kid’s safety and his own. They are both wearing helmets. Somehow he forgot about the kid that he has strapped to his chest!
I`d hate to see him have a big stack on the way down the slope.
Seriously, what the hell is he thinking? Even if you are going down the easiest run in the joint you could still have a number of things go wrong. Dude-san is crazy.
Hi Neil, How was the snow condition at Gala? I’ve been thinking to go but always ended up going to Zao Onsen for some reason. It sounds great though going to Gala on a day trip.
If you’re going to go then get up there soon, there were a few patches coming through on high use areas on trails and stuff …. still a good covering across most of the main areas though …. but with this warmer weather it’s only a matter of time before it’s over.
He’s using junior as a cushion? Maybe he’s a stepson??
Did he actually go down the slope with the baby strapped there???
Didn’t actually see him ski …. i would guess with some caution though.
