The sun is close to the mountain, so it’s very hot when there are no clouds.

Agree Mike, heading up again this weekend. Going to a different spot, Gala Yuzawa about 1.5 hrs North West from Tokyo on the Shinkansen, up and back with a days ski pass for 8700 yen … just had to book 5 days in advance to save about 2500 yen .. too easy.

That`s an awesome price. You can`t even buy a lift ticket in Canada for that amount. Much less one that included a return 3 hour bus trip!

Thanks for the heads up Lee, the decision behind Gala was easy in and easy out on the Shinkansen. Booked the tickets before 3pm today so it worked out to 8700 yen return from Tokyo station with a full days pass included.

Will definitely have a look at your suggestion though.
