"if I had a gig in Japan that paid well enough" then you'd be able to get some pretty good digs Pete believe me .... it's amazing what you can get for a bit more, considering you don't have car costs, work pays train / bus commute, tax is low in Japan etc ...

This apartment is 6m2 ... my apartment is a shade under 50m2, granted i pay a fair bit more, split the middle and get something around 30m2 and you're doing alright, for probably about 120,000 per month.

If you used it as a second home, somewhere to shower, change clothes and sleep 1 or 2 nights a week then it might be OK.

If yours fits a single bed, desk and wardrobe then you have this one covered! Also taking into account only paying 12,000 per month you're definitely in front. Short term is OK but long term no way.

I could definitely deal with it, but I'm sure I'd get cabin fever much more quickly than I do in my current 1-bedroom apt in Manhattan. Still, if I had a gig in Japan that paid well enough, I'd totally be willing to live there.
