Viewing Your iPhone Bill Online

May 14, 2009 · 20 comments

There’s nothing easy about navigating around the Softbank and trying to check your iPhone bill online, unless of course you’re extremely competent in Japanese.

I knew i’d been able to do it before but getting there again wasn’t easy at all so here’s the step by step, with pictures, on how to check your iPhone statements online.

Go to the My SoftBank website and here’s the screen you’ll see. Enter your User ID and Password in the appropriate area then hit the black box below it that says “Login”

Provided you’ve entered your password correctly you should be in.

See, success it says i’m “Logined” ….. now hit the black button where ‘X” marks the spot.

Next, you’re asked to enter your 4 digit password, this is the one you would have assigned when you bought the phone … then hit the “X” button.

O.K, we’re in …. on the left hand side there’s 3 main areas i’m interested in, ongoing cost for current bill cycle, a summary of your last 6 months bills and also the ability to view your last months bill in a detailed manner and download a pdf of it.

By selecting the first one “Current Bill Cycle” you get the ongoing totals for the month, voice charges (40 yen) , mail charges (1300 yen)  and packets (692,633 yen) …. right now i’m glad there’s a cap on the cost of the iPhone’s in Japan!

The second option “Last 6 Months Bill Summary” gives you just that, an itemised view of what you paid.

Lastly the 3rd button “Last Months Detailed View & PDF Download” lets you grab a softcopy to print it out. The buttons at the top (Green and Blue) let you cycle back and forth to the month you want.

There you have it, i think you’d be surprised at how much your iPhone would cost you if you didn’t have a capped plan, i know i was the first time i saw it.

I’d be interested to know who has the highest bill, either the amount you pay each month or the data costs before the cap is applied so check it out online now.

I would, but I never seem to be able to remember what’s my ID. good thing I have it written in my little black book at home. In terms of usage, I’m nearing the 900MB received barrier!

Cool! But how do you get a username and password? I have no idea how to do the signup.

Excellent post dude. Docomo’s iMode and other companies’ networks have been around for about a decade now, and still, only the most paltry of efforts has been made to translate the most basic information into other languages. While this is Japan and most users are Japanese, I feel this is inexcusable. It’s hard enough for Japanese users to use these systems, and it’s doubly so for non-natives, because in essence, this all new Japanese in as far as it’s usage. With more and more non-natives using the systems, translations (or at least guides) are necessary. Perhaps it’s time someone wrote a book: Traversing Japanese Cell Phone Networks for Non-Natives.

As long as you have a capped data plan it will be about ¥6500 plus cost to pay off the handset. Gotta have the unlimited data plan thats all.

Guys, new Iphine should be out 17th *June* (just after WWDC) For us on the current model it isn’t a huge change (11n network, Compass, maybe better battery) OS 3.0 will bring new life to the ol dog in June, too :)

As for the packet-data charges they show.. it gave me heart attack until I realised the ‘cap’ kicks in and they show the 4,000 charge.. talk about KY, damn.

Great article, really enjoy the blog

I think you needed to get the double white option. I think it would have been standard …. but not sure where to check online.

So mines came out to about 80,000 yen in like two or three days. What do all those numbers represent? I can’t pay that!? I got on the special white plan or something like that.

Thanks a lot! Very helpful – I don’t know why they bother to show the extremely high figure on the first page (except to make you think you’re getting a great deal). Surely no-one in their right mind is going to be paying those amounts? Mine was a shade under Y1 mill!!

sorry; this is about 12 months too late, but…

i have absolutely no idea how to log into this shit. i got my softbank iphone like over a year ago and they gave me like 4 different usernames and passwords and PINs and whatnot. i had no idea what they were for back then and i still can’t figure it out now.

also on the my softbank site it says that as of may 13 2010 the format has changed. i didn’t get any info about this either via post, SMS or email, so now i have no idea what to do. the first box on the login screen asks for the keitai number, not a username, and i have no idea what kind of password it wants.

i truly regret ever signing up for a softbank phone.
