Xmas 2007 and New Years in Australia

January 3, 2008 · 5 comments

As i flew back in to Narita Airport this morning i wasn’t surprised to hear the captain announce the temperature on arrival was minus 3′C. I can’t complain, after all i’ve just had a great 2 weeks in Australia with days on average over the 30′C mark, some getting too hot and hitting low 40’s.

As for the trip, it was action packed to say the least, and there were still a lot of people i didn’t get to see, and some things that didn’t get done.  Overall i balanced it out pretty well and didn’t come back too thrashed.

Here’s a brief snapshot of some of the events and places i made it too over the 12 days. For every event here, there’s another 5 i didn’t take my camera too …. it’s good to be home to relax for a few days before getting back into work for the year ahead.

The holiday started off with a catch up lunch followed by some beers with a few of the lads at the Provincial in Melbourne.

Lads Provincial

The Annual Kris Kringle party held at a mates place in Port Melbourne. I was fortunate enough to stay beach side this year, at a buddies newly purchased and renovated apartment, and with the days as hot as they were it was certainly a big plus.

Port Melbourne

The boys were ticking over as we eagerly waited the arrival of Santa Claus.

The Boys

The last 8 years Santa has come in many different forms, this year no different. Prepared for the hot weather Santa was dressed pretty casually.

Over to Adelaide on the 23rd and time to spend sometime with the family and my brother and a few mates who live in the country, once again it was as hot as all get out so the beers flowed ….. and we let off a few rounds.

Shooting

Back to Melbourne after a few days and it was off to the Boxing Day Test at the M.C.G, glad to get this event ticked off, albeit only for 1 of the 5 days.

Boxing Day Test

I couldn’t finish without a mention of the fridge my mate bought when he fitted out the apartment i stayed in, sensational is an understatement. Complete with ice maker, 3 seperate temperature controlled compartments on the left hand side for the White, the Red and Champagne and stacked full of Corona in the middle. Needless to say, on several occasions, we gave it a good work out over the summer break.

Like i’ve mentioned previously, if you haven’t been to Australia, do yourself a favour and get down there for a look you won’t be disappointed.

Beer and shooting, are you sure that was a good combo? ;)
Glad you are back in one piece and you enjoyed yourself.

Best wishes for 2008!

I wondered who`d pick that up Mariam … there was only a little shooting, can`t say the same for the beer though.

Yeh Tyler, there`s 3 of us in various stages of baldness, all deciding better to whip it off rather than fight the losing battle! I much prefer going out in style than trying to hang on to something that`s not there.
