If you haven’t been to Yamachan then you’re missing out, of course, it will help if you like Chicken Wings too otherwise you’re not really missing out on anything at all.
Yamachan have been going strong for about 30 years now and although they have many items on the menu they’re best known for their chicken wings.
I like my beers cold and my wings spicy, no problems with both of those at Yamachan. The wings come in 2 flavours, normal and spicy and each serve is 5 wings in total at a cost of 400 yen.
Pictured here is the first plate of 20 wings me and my buddy shared, or wings for 4 people is how you’d order.
Beware though, these wings are moorish, it’s hard to stop after 10 a piece so we grabbed another 20 wings and a few more beers to wash them down.

You can buy salads there too, so i’m told, but not on my watch, it’s beer and wings when i go to Yamachan.
Yamachan stores are all over the place, i’m sure there’ll be one close to you, check out the website if you can read Japanese. The one we went to was right next door to Shin-Okubo station, in the heart of Korean town.
I love Yamachan but it’s probably not worthy enough to sneak into the Seven Wonders Of Japan, if you haven’t checked the voting out then head over now, there’s still about 2 weeks to go.

Neil, next time in Japan we should meet up. I don’t drink much but I can eat them wings like it’s nobody’s business!
No probs Mike …. they are pretty moorish, we stopped at 40 but could have done another 2 easily.
Been to Japan 4 times before and never seen any before… Thanks a lot, because it’s now on my list (for stuff to eat) and I won’t like my lunch today anymore…. Have you been to Takechan in Ginza (yakitori place)? I heard it was quite good. Also any yakiniku places that you would recommend or blog about? (note to myself; will check your blog after lunch or dinner from now on….)
Never been to Takechan in Ginza Oz, will keep it in mind though. BIG fan of Yakiniku and know a few good ones. Really cheap price but meat as good as anywhere next to Minami Shinjuku station in Yoyogi, also a few others scattered around Kabukicho and Shinjuku … will take a few photos next time i’m there and write it up.
Ummmm….. wings…..! And beer? Holy sheep shyte! I’m there!
Excellent ! Yamachan sounds awesome. I need to go there !
Just discovered your blog thru a buddy. After work I’ll explore a bit.
Yamachan is pretty good, I agree. Here in Okazaki they have special Okazaki beer and sometimes Nagoya beer, both brewed with Okazaki Miso (I believe). Sounds gross, but it is pure heaven! Some of the best (Japanese) beer I have had.
I’m a sucker for Buffalo wings with Blue cheese dip but…those look pretty good.
I love chicken wings…especially with spicy flavour.
Neil, is this to the left of the station’s exit when you come out of it? I’ll be in Japan from this weekend and I’ve gotta try this. Cheers!
Yes, to the left of the Shin-Okubo station on the JR line as you come out, take a hard left and walk up past the Pachinko parlour, then it’s down stairs to the right …. but it sounds like you know where it is anyway.
Thanks for the details Neil! I don’t know where it is but just fashioned a guess off G map, since there were only shops to the left
I travel to Tokyo and Nagoya frequently from US
After ckecking in at Nagoya Marriott Associa
My first stop is Yamachans
I love the wings (don’t eat them at home)
But I am desperate for the recipe for the
Bean sprout, scallion and pepper hot dish they serve
Any help?
I wish i could help …. but i’ve never had that dish, will try it though!
